# Moodle evaluation project tasks
On this page research outcomes and evaluation results regarding the suitability of moodle for eLearning sharing and virtual project teams will be documented.

## Course sharing
Several similarly named technologies could be found that initially seemed to be promising.

### Moodle networks ([MNet](https://docs.moodle.org/35/en/MNet#Running_a_Mnet_hub))
Allows to interconnect moodle instances (peer-to-peer). Seems to be very old already (relies on xml-rpc) and according to the [discussion forum](https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=175158) is discontinued since version 2.3.

### [Community hub](https://docs.moodle.org/35/en/Community_hubs)
Seem to be exactly what we need regarding course sharing. A community hub is a central repository of courses (listing) which are hosted on other instances. There is a public community hub ([moodle.net](https://moodle.net/)). For course sharing a moodle instance must be [registered](https://docs.moodle.org/35/en/Site_registration) first. Then follow the instructions for [course sharing](https://docs.moodle.org/35/en/Course_sharing).

It is possible to create a **custom cummunity hub** by running moodle with special parameters. This is probably exactly what we are looking for. Unfortunately the sharing/publishing functionality was kicked out from moodle-core since version 3.4. From now on you have to use the plugins [moodle-tool_customhub](https://github.com/moodlehq/moodle-tool_customhub) and [moodle-block_customhub](https://github.com/moodlehq/moodle-block_customhub).
So hopefully it won't be discontinued soon either!!

Awaiting response in the [discussion forum](https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=376263#p1517109) about that.
